How to Use Proxy with Firefox
There are many possible reasons for using a proxy server when you’re online. If you wish to use a proxy server, you first need to configure your web browser to connect to the proxy server you want to use. The configuration process differs for each type of web browser.
If you currently use Mozilla Firefox as your web browser, here’s what you need to do to start using a proxy server.
- Step 1: Open your Mozilla Firefox web browser. If you don’t have a Mozilla Firefox browser yet, you can download it for free from the Mozilla website www.mozilla.com. The latest version is now Firefox 4.
- Step 2: Go to the Tools menu, which is located on the main toolbar. You can also open to Tools menu by pressing Alt+T.
- Step 3: Select Options from the drop-down menu.
- Step 4: When the Options window opens, you will see options with their corresponding icons on top. Click on the first icon, which opens the General tab. Take note that directions for setting up a proxy connection may differ based on the version of Mozilla Firefox you use. If you use Firefox 3.0, choose the Advanced icon and open the Network tab. Look for the Connection section and click on the Settings button. If you are using Firefox 2.0, you can bypass the icons and tabs. Under the Options menu, you will already find a Connection Settings option.

- Step 10: Click OK until the menu window is closed. Now, you can start browsing the Internet through a proxy server using your Mozilla Firefox browser.

- Step 7: Provide the proxy IP address in the blank HTTP proxy box. If you wish to use a free proxy, you can find various free proxy server addresses from free proxy lists available online. Just choose one proxy address from the list.
